Careers

growth + development

At CooperAitken, we recognise that no two careers look the same. While traditional accounting pathways often follow a fixed structure, we take a more flexible and progressive approach. One that reflects both our people and the opportunities within our firm.

We recognise potential and create opportunities for people to step into new challenges as they grow. Our values: progressive, driven, empathetic, community and approachable, are central to how we support development. This means fostering an environment where people feel encouraged to learn, contribute ideas, and be involved beyond their core role.

We encourage our team to take ownership of their development, supporting individuals to shape their own career journey. Progression isn’t always linear; it can move upward, outward, or laterally, depending on interests, strengths, and where each person can add value. From leading internal initiatives such as tax oversight or benchmarking projects to collaborating across teams, there are meaningful ways to expand experience and influence.

With four offices across the greater Waikato – Morrinsville, Matamata, Thames, and Hamilton, our geographical reach also creates opportunities to work across different teams, communities, and client groups.  Our diverse client base, combined with a strong and consistent presence in the Agri-accounting sector, provides breadth of exposure that helps build well-rounded experience.

At CooperAitken, career development is not just about progression; it’s about growing in a way that is fulfilling, sustainable, and aligned with both individual ambition and shared values.
