In 2008 the firm purchased Churton Fraser Ltd. This firm had been practicing for over 50 years in Morrinsville and began when Laurie Uings, having worked with John Doube, started a practice on his own in the 1960’s. He purchased the building in Canada Street behind the ANZ Bank.  Jim Crawford became a partner in 1974 at the age of 24 and the firm became Uings and Crawford. In 1978 Reg Churton became a partner and bought Laurie Uing’s share in the practice. Robert Fraser became partner in 1996 and Jim Crawford retired. The firm was then known as Crawford Churton & Fraser. A few years later the name changed to Churton Fraser Ltd.

Following the purchase of Churton Fraser Ltd additional office space was needed and some staff moved into the refurbished offices in Canada Street in 2009.

Also in 2009 Cameron Accounting was purchased and this started CooperAitken’s presence in Matamata.
